Lina Documentary

Join us for an exclusive screening of Lina.
Where:  Loon Lake Jewish Community Center
When:   August 24, 7:30 pm Eastern Time
Length: 30 minutes, with discussion time afterwards

Lina is the main character of the documentary and it’s through her mother Alyona that the audience learns about the story of Lina and her family. It’s an intimate account of what Lina has to go through when the war arrives at her house. And, as Alyona says at some point, Lina saw everything.
Lina’s story is the story of Ukraine, and Alyona’s struggle is the story of Ukraine’s mothers. The mothers are the backbone of this country and their children the future. This film shows the audience what enormous sacrifices girls like Lina and mothers like Alyona are forced to make in a war that they did not start nor want.

Ukrainian authorities have verified the identities of over 19,500 Ukrainian children that Russian forces abducted from Ukrainian orphanages or other facilities or took away from parents and guardians under the pretext of “summer camps” like they tried with Alyona’s children. The exact number of Ukrainian children transferred to Russia is not known but estimates range as high as 700,000 to over a million.
Sponsors:  Craig and Silke Johnson, who supported the production of the film, and will talk briefly about The Humanity Funds and Save Ukraine, the organizations behind the film.
This is not a fundraiser.  This is an opportunity to learn about how the war in Ukraine is impacting children and families.
RSVP:  Not required.  Just show up.
