This comparatively unknown but delightful little sheet of water lies twenty miles to the westward of “Old Whiteface”, one of the principal peaks of the Adirondacks. It is the highest body of water of any considerable size between Port Kent on the eastern and Malone on the western slope of the range… A couch of spruce or hemlock boughs under a canvas roof is a luxury worth crossing a continent to enjoy.
