Loon Lake Access

Loon Lake is one of the largest private lakes in the Adirondacks.  Access is granted to those who have “deeded rights” to access the lake.   The Loon Lake Hotel property once spanned more than 4,000 acres.  It has been subdivided and sold over the years.  Some properties that were originally part of the hotel complex have “deeded rights” to access the lake.  If you are a property owner in the area, check your deed for specific access rights.  For those who have deeded rights, you likely have access to the boat launch on Blue Spruce Drive and the Swim Beach off of Loon Lake Terrace.  Both properties are maintained by the Loon Lake Community Association.  Deeded rights owners can obtain a key to the boat launch at “The Loon” cafe.

Boat Parking

We will be continuing our boat decal parking system at both beaches.  Only non-motorized boats with a 2025 Boat Parking Decal showing they are registered can be left overnight at either beach.  Only HOA members and persons with deeded rights to the beaches and their guests can park their boats overnight.  Registered boats with current Boat Parking Decals displayed may be parked year around at their owner’s risk.

Overnight parking requires each boat to be registered at a cost of $25/yr to obtain the Boat Parking Decal. This link will take you directly to the registration instructions and online payment methods: http://loonlakehoa.org/membership.html#boatpark.  Within a few days following registration, your 2025 Boat Parking Decal will be placed in the Information Box at Swim Beach in an envelope marked by the registrant’s name. Each beach has a designated parking area for non-motorized boats. Boats must be parked in these areas only.

For boats left overnight without a 2025 Boat Parking Decal displayed, we will place a note on the boat to inform them how to obtain a Boat Parking Decal and ask them to remove their boat if they do not want to obtain a Boat Parking Decal.  Renters must park their non-motorized boats in the designated area on Boat Launch Beach, not Swim Beach, as there is much more boat-parking space in the Boat Launch area.

If renters want overnight parking for their personal boats, they must be registered and display the 2025 Boat Parking Decal.

Cottage owners are asked to make sure their renters know these rules in sufficient time to obtain the registration decal and that they know where the boat-parking space is. If preferred, cottage owners can provide their own registered boats with decals for renters to use and park them on Boat Launch Beach.Cottage owners should emphasize to renters who bring boats that their boats must be properly washed and sanitized before entering Loon Lake to prevent invasive species.

Be a good neighbor

Respect for the lake, wildlife, and each other

Enjoying Lake Access

Please respect the lake, wildlife, and each other when enjoying Loon Lake.  The Swim Beach and Boat Launch are available to those families who have deeded lake rights and their guests and renters.  Loon Lake is a fragile ecosystem, and we want to preserve its pristine nature.  Rules for use of the Swim Beach and Boat Launch are posted at each property.  There is no parking available adjacent to either properties, so we encourage you to walk, or park at an established parking area and walk to the access points.  If you want to store your canoe or kayak on these properties, you may purchase an annual for $25.00 USD per boat per year.  Email loonlakehoainformation@gmail.com for more information.

While the Loon Lake Community does not have strict rules, we ask that you treat your neighbors with respect, which includes observing rules boat speed in no-wake zones, limiting parties and excessive noise on shore, picking up trash if you see litter, and observing wildlife from a distance.
